1. Safety: When asked about the departure of Gibril Wilson, released after one year, Cable said the incumbent strong safety was Tyvon Branch, a fourth-round draft pick a year ago. Branch, however, missed much of the season with a broken thumb and then a broken shoulder.

2. Center: If the Raiders are truly enamored with Cal's Alex Mack, there will be some maneuvering to do on draft day. Mack is as unlikely to be the No. 7 overall pick as he is to be available on their second pick at No. 40. Buffalo free agent Duke Preston remains a possibility.

3. Wide receiver: Johnnie Lee Higgins and Chaz Schilens have the Al Davis seal of approval as up-and-coming talents, but most mock drafts have the Raiders looking to either Missouri's Jeremy Maclin or Texas Tech's Michael Crabtree with the No. 7 overall pick.
