--Cornerback DeAngelo Hall said after the Broncos loss the Raiders were "out-schemed." Nnamdi Asomugha hinted the same thing.
"When a team lines up and just goes out and plays, we can handle it," Asomugha said. "But when they start scheming us the way (Denver) did, and we weren't particularly ready for it, anything can happen. And it showed today."
When it was suggested to Asomugha that it sounded like he said the Raiders were out-coached, he backed off.
"No, I don't think we were out-coached. I think that the checks we were making on the field by the players, that was the biggest problem," Asomugha said. "The checks we were making, (Broncos coach Mike) Shanahan had something for those, and each player has to take accountability for that, I guess."
--Lane Kiffin said any change with regard to bringing pressure on defense won't come from him, but from defensive coordinator Rob Ryan and owner Al Davis.
"Rob and the owner are always in communication," Kiffin said. "For the most part, I let Rob do his thing over there. He has a belief in certain things and he has a conversation with the owner about that."
Kiffin deflected questions about whether he would blitz more.
"I'm not going to really get in to if I was the defensive coordinator," Kiffin said. "That doesn't really matter. I'm the head coach. I oversee everything and I control what I can control. Do I have the exact belief that we do on defense? No, but it's hard to have the exact belief we do. So, it is what it is."
Ryan offered his resignation to Kiffin last season following the season but it was turned down by Davis, who wanted him to coach the final year of his contract.
--Quarterback JaMarcus Russell was looking forward to looking across the line and seeing former LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey. The two talked when Dorsey was visiting with the Raiders before the draft.
Instead of drafting Dorsey, the Raiders went with running back Darren McFadden and Dorsey ended up going one pick later at No. 5 to Kansas City.
"I actually came in the building and had time to spend with him at a (Giants) baseball game," Russell said. "We chatted for a little bit. I told him no matter what happens, wherever you go, it's where you end up and what you do. Make the best of your opportunity."
--It's a dreaded place for the Raiders, but Arrowhead Stadium is heaven for Sebastian Janikowski.
Janikowski is 18-for-21 lifetime on field-goal attempts at Arrowhead, hasn't missed since 2002 and had a 54-yard field goal last year. He has made his last 13 field-goal attempts.
In the only game Janikowski missed two attempts, as a rookie in 2000, his 43-yarder with 25 seconds to play sealed a 20-18 win. The following season, Janikowski's 31-yarder with 15 seconds left gave the Raiders a 27-24 win.
BY THE NUMBERS: 1 -- Number of games the Raiders have won on the road with a negative turnover ratio since the start of the 2004 season. Oakland is 1-20 during that span, with 17 consecutive losses.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "You have to look at the history. History is what it is, that he doesn't keep people very long. We don't have a general manager. Everything goes through the owner. That sets up a difficult situation at times. Knowing who the owner is, you know from day one there's no job security." -- Coach Lane Kiffin.
