Baltimore at Miami

Baltimore at Miami
Baltimore will win if ...

Joe Flacco is ready to take the next step as a starting quarterback. He enjoyed a great rookie season, completing 60 percent of his passes. But the playoffs are different. Offensive coordinator Cam Cameron can stick it to Miami. He was fired as the Dolphins' coach after going 1-15.

Miami will win if ...

Chad Pennington continues his hot hand as the Dolphins search for their first playoff win since 2000. Pennington has posted a passer rating of at least 100 in four straight games. The last time that happened in Miami? Dan Marino did it in 1984. Now Pennington must do it in the playoffs.

WILD-CARD CAP

Noon today. TV: Ch 11. Radio: KRLD-FM (105.3)

Stuff the Ravens

Le'Ron McClain may be a 260-pound fullback, and Willis McGahee may be past his prime. But they're the two big reasons the Ravens have the fourth-best running game in the NFL. The Dolphins probably took a long look at their two long touchdown runs against the Cowboys. McClain had 70 yards and two touchdowns in the regular-season finale against Jacksonville.

Lewis or Porter?

Two of the game's best linebackers will be on display. Ray Lewis, an inside linebacker, has piled up 117 tackles and 31/2 sacks this season. Joey Porter, an outside pass rusher, was second in the NFL in sacks (171/2). Each player directs traffic and serves as the emotional heart and soul of his unit. Each has won a Super Bowl title. While they won't go head-to-head, it's a great individual matchup.

Who will surprise?

Coaches spend countless hours poring over data on an opponent's tendencies. What will first-year coaches John Harbaugh and Tony Sparano have up their sleeves that the other isn't expecting? This is just the second time since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970 that rookie head coaches will meet in the playoffs. Keep an eye on the Ravens' special teams. That's what Harbaugh knows best.

Inside the Ravens

29.3 Sticky-fingered safety Ed Reed led the NFL with nine interceptions, averaging 29.3 yards per return on those picks. That includes an NFL-record 107-yarder.
