The Oakland Raiders are expected to fire head coach Lane Kiffin today, bringing to an end Kiffin’s tenure as coach after 19 games and a 5-14 record.
The news that the day of Kiffin’s firing is finally here — first reported by Jay Glazer of Fox Sports — brings to an end months of speculation about just how long Kiffin would stay. It’s long been clear that Raiders owner Al Davis isn’t confident in Kiffin, and that Kiffin doesn’t want to be there.
There is no news yet on who the Raiders’ interim head coach will be, but the names of wide receivers coach James Lofton, running backs coach Tom Rathman and defensive coordinator Rob Ryan have all been mentioned.
